UNFPA has been partnering with relevant government agencies and CSO stakeholders to conduct a series for capacity building sessions with young people.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Guided by the slogan “ensuring rights and choices for all”, UNFPA has been working with women, girls and adolescents and young people to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
UNFPA relies on a cadre of well-equipped youth leaders to support advocacy around issues affecting the lives of all young people, especially those furthest behind. For this reason, we work closely with young people to continuously empower and build their capacity in relevant areas to ensure that they can dialogue and participate in the development process of our country. Our efforts enable young people to develop their skills, knowledge and the support they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, lives, families, communities, countries, and our world.
UNFPA has been partnering with relevant government agencies and CSO stakeholders to conduct a series for capacity building sessions with young people from the UNFPA Youth Advisory Group and other youth networks. Main topics included Human Rights, HIV, Anti-discrimination and Inclusiveness, Advocacy, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Gender, Monitoring & Evaluation. Participants have also been exposed to Belize’s Growth & Sustainable Development Strategy as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These capacity building sessions were designed and delivered by knowledge experts in the various thematic areas. They created the opportunity for participants to share their views and voice their concerns on matters affecting their lives and those around them, while enhancing their knowledge-base and building the requisite skills necessary to advocate for these very same issues.
